
Professor Andrew Campbell is an award-winning educator renowned for his contributions to digital health education, boasting over 30 years of teaching excellence across both undergraduate and postgraduate programs. In addition to his academic achievements, he has practiced for more than 20 years as a Registered Psychologist, specializing in the mental health of children and adolescents. This extensive experience in both teaching and clinical settings has made Professor Andrew Campbell a sought-after public speaker in the field of cyberpsychology.
His research and academic leadership have significantly shaped applied teaching and consultancy for industries and governments regarding the ethical and effective adoption of technology. This work emphasizes the use of both common and emerging technologies, such as AI, VR/XR, video games, social networking platforms, smartphones, and wearable devices. Professor Campbell has led numerous human-computer interaction projects and has delivered innovative, research-led curricula in psychology, cyberpsychology, and digital health education. He consistently integrates cutting-edge scholarship with practical applications, and his teaching is widely recognized for its clarity, relevance, and strong student engagement. This is evident in his outstanding student feedback and multiple teaching awards at The University of Sydney. He has co-authored two textbooks on Human Development with the esteemed psychologist Professor Philip Zimbardo and has taught the units HSBH1005 Human Development and BIDH3146 Cyberpsychology in Digital Health at The University of Sydney for over two decades.
In recognition of his teaching excellence in digital health education, he received the Australian Psychological Society Award for Outstanding Psychology Lecturer in NSW in 2017, along with the former Faculty of Health Sciences (now the Sydney School of Health Sciences) Outstanding Lecturer Award for his work in Health Sciences and Cyberpsychology. In 2018, he was appointed a Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (UK).
Professor Andrew Campbell is also a highly respected PhD and Masters supervisor and mentor, having guided more than 15 PhD students as lead supervisor and over 30 Honours students. In 2023, he was honoured with the Supervisor of the Year award by the Sydney University Postgraduate Representative Association (SUPRA) in the School of Medical Sciences, recognizing his sustained excellence in higher degree research supervision and student development.
